In May 2014 I made the most important decision that I have ever made in my life. I decided that my weight was totally out of control and health issues were creeping up. I was on Ferograd, Vitamin B complex and needed contant medical check ups every month.
I vividly remember this evening in May 2014 going through my facebook messages and seeing this message from Michelle Rugeroni. “Hello Heidi I am Michelle from GBC I want to do a programme and want you to be part of it, can I call you?” Not knowing what it entailed I said yes. On 19th November 2014 my challenge started. Michelle introduced me to our Fitness Instructor Daniel (Fitbody Result) and 2 other beautiful ladies who would be doing this challenge with me.
Day one was a shock to the system as I got on the “Devil Scales” for the 1st time in years. I weighed in at a hefty…. Yeah wait for it…. Wait for it…… 110.3 Kilos. WOW!!
Reality kicked in. I needed to do something about it and fast. Daniel (Fitbody Result) helped me change my eating habits, taught us about portion control, about substituting foods. No more excuses, no quick fix diets, no pills, no crash diets, I needed a lifestyle change and this was it. My new life started today. Making time for me, myself and I. I made training part of my daily routines and guess what? I actually enjoyed it. It made me happier, I enjoyed the adrenaline rush going through my body after each session. I was limited to the training I could do as I suffered a motobike accident (damaged meniscus) and so Dan devised a training plan to meet my needs. All lower body exercises were out of bounds for me so boxing and the punch bag became my best friend.
3 months into my training and new lifestyle, it was time for my 3 month doctors appointment, my iron deposits were at 100%, Vitamin B was excellent and my anemia had also disappeared. My body was beginning to see the change I had so longed for, subsequently the doctor decided to stop all my medication and see how I did after a month medication free.
12 months later, I’m medication free and 23 kilos lighter. I have never felt better in my entire life. I’ve gone from a size 22 down to a size 16! The healthy eating method truly works!! It has changed my life, not only physically but mentally as well. This lifestyle change has taught me that you don’t have to starve to lose weight. I have never been a fan of dieting. I believed that cutting back on portions and eating “less” sweets would be enough. It clearly was not enough! This protocol has also taught me a life long lesson on how to manage my weight.
My new motto is “If Heidi’s done it, so can you!"
